James G. Baker Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of James G. Baker of Red Oak, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on July 8, 2025 at the age of 80. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Baker and Beatrice Baker (Briscoe); his brother Jack Baker; his brother-in-law Ken Palm (Bob Courter) of Ida Grove; his nephew David Baker; and his sisters-in-law, Lucile Crouse (Ritnour) and Joy Ritnour.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Ritnour; his children, Wendy Huscher (Bart) of Springfield, Jaysen Baker (Julie) of Ozark, Missouri., Stanley Thompson (Nancy) of Des Moines and Sherry Powers (Drue) of Red Oak; his grandchildren, Austin Huscher (Cheyenne), Alex Huscher (Taylor), Justin Baker, Josh Baker, Andrew Thompson (Mary Katherine), Matthew Thompson, Samuel Thompson (Rachel), Benjamin Thompson (Rayza), Ethan Powers and Logan Powers (Aubre); his great grandchildren, Palmer Huscher, Matilda Powers, Tatum, Lynden, Grace, Howard and Olivia Thompson; his siblings, Shirley Palm of Ida Grove, Jerome Baker (JoAnn) of Holstein and Sharon Courter of Bellevue, Michigan; and his brothers-in-law, Steve Ritnour and Richard Crouse of Nodaway.
Visitation was held on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (1510 Highland Ave, Red Oak, IA 51566). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 9:00 AM at the same location.
Memorial donations may be made in Jim's honor to the Autism Society of Iowa or the Iowa DNR Fish & Wildlife Trust Fund.
