With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Phyllis Sunberg of Red Oak, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 25, 2025 at the age of 94. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Martin William and Lily Irene Johnson (Peterson); her husband Bill Sunberg; her brother Wayne Johnson; her siblings-in-law, Ruth Marie Johnson and Paul Sunberg; and her nephew Mark Sunberg.
She is survived by: her daughters, Sharon Johnson (Ronald) of Red Oak, IA, Diane Masterson (Steve) of Lincoln, NE and Debra Barnett (Matthew) of Richland, WA; her grandson Daniel Johnson (Jacqueline) of Ankeny, IA; her children, Rachel Hall (Christopher) of Knightdale, NC, Joel Johnson (Stephanie) of Bondurant, IA, Catherine Hanson (Kyle) of Omaha, NE, DeAnna Masterson of Baltimore, MD, Russell Masterson of Lincoln, NE, Julie Summers of Omaha, NE, Joshua Sunberg (Amber Graves) of Bellvue, CO, John Titus Barnett (Lisa) of Ames, IA and Andrea Barnett of Raleigh, NC; her great grandchildren, Davis and Genevieve Johnson of Ankeny, IA; her grandchildren, Jordan, William, Emma Johnson of Bondurant, IA, Austin, Mason, Hannah Hanson of Omaha, NE, Theodore Summers of Omaha, NE and Helen Sunberg of Bellvue, CO; her sister-in-law Myrna Sunberg of Longmont, CO; and her nieces and nephews, Dr. Phillip Johnson (Kathie) of Litchfield, IL, Noral Johnson (Cindy) of Highlands Ranch, CO, Judith Larson, Peter of Grand Rapids, MI, Kent Sunberg (Lee Ann) of Longmont, CO, Kevin Sunberg (Jana) of Longmont, CO and Kevin Carlson (Becky) of Urbandale, IA. She is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 30th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the LeRette Funeral Chapel, Inc. (1995 G Ave, Red Oak, IA 51566). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 31st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Covenant Church (207 E Hammond St, Red Oak, IA 51566).
Memorials are suggested to the First Covenant Church or the Twin Lakes Bible Camp.
