He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Metz of Riverside; his sons, Kevin Metz (Cara) of Williamsburg and Daniel Metz of Iowa City; his stepchildren, Sarah Stahl (Zach) of Davenport and Daniel Verzaal (Nora) of Bettendorf; his granddaughters, Lillian Shrock, Elizabeth Metz and Flora Stahl; and his brother Duane Metz (Deb) of Riverside.

A memorial fund has been established for St. Mary's Catholic Church or the American Heart Association.
