It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Peter T De Jong of Rock Valley, Iowa, who passed away on August 2, 2025, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Peter T De Jong to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parent Tracy De Jong; his son Scott De Jong; his father Tony De Jong; his brother Butch De Jong (Sandy); and his brother-in-law Don Lindskoog.
He is survived by: his wife Evelyn Wiersma; his children, Tim De Jong (Maria Reinders) of Wisconsin and Toni Shantz (Kelly) of Minnesota; his daughter-in-law Jennifer De Jong (Koldenhoven); his grandchildren, Chloe De Jong, Sofie De Jong, Erin De Jong, Allison De Jong, Erica Karbash (Tommy), Colin Shantz (Samantha), Kersten Shantz and Kayla Shantz; and his siblings, Verna Lindskoog, Jan De Jong and Jim De Jong (Kay). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5th 2025 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Carmel Reformed Church (2801 360th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247). A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, August 6th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the De Jong family prefers memorial donations be given to Samaritan's Purse or Wounded Warrior Project, two organizations that were dear to Pete's heart.
