Shirley Ann Berkenpas Obituary

With sadness, we share the passing of Shirley Ann Berkenpas of Rock Valley, Iowa. Shirley Ann, born on August 29, 1937, passed away on September 27, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Jake Cannegieter and Cora Cannegieter (Ver Burg); her husband Richard "Berky" Berkenpas; her parents-in-law, Richard and Jenny Berkenpas; her granddaughter Shayleigh Berkenpas; her brothers, Don Cannegieter, John Cannegieter and Arland Cannegieter; her siblings-in-law, Wally Caswell (Bob Eidsmoe), Jeanine Berkenpas, Barb Berkenpas, Joyce Berkenpas and Rena Cannegieter; and her nephew Chad Berkenpas.

She is survived by: her children, Kevin Berkenpas (Julie), Cindy Osborne (David), Rick Berkenpas (Tami) and Kerri Hoogendoorn (Jeremy); her grandchildren, RJ Berkenpas, Hunter Berkenpas (Stephanie), JD Osborne, Berke Osborne, Cheyenne Meendering (Jacob), Sheridan Berkenpas, Shelby Berkenpas, Dakota Vlotho, Makenzi Vlotho and Karson Hoogendoorn; her great grandchildren, Blake Meendering and CJ Meendering; her sisters, Lois Vande Stouwe (Gerrit), Joan Caswell and Karen Clark (Judy); and her siblings-in-law, Alden Berkenpas, Carl Berkenpas, Merlin Berkenpas (Peg) and Leone Eidsmoe.

Visitation was held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home - Rock Valley (1704 15th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247). A prayer was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Pioneer United Methodist Church of Rock Valley (1030 18th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Pioneer United Methodist Church (1030 18th St, Rock Valley, IA 51247). A burial was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Justice For All in Rock Valley or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
