Timothy leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Timothy’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Timothy will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Johnston; his brother Tad; and his uncle Rick Hills. He is survived by: his mother Judy Johnston (Hills) of Iowa City, Iowa.; his siblings, Tyler (Angie), Tricia Lacey (John) and Harris; his stepmother Amanda Potterfield; and his pet Pippa.
Johnston, whose work was translated into French, Italian, Japanese, Romanian, Polish, and Czech, was the recipient of the 2015 Iowa Author Award, a MacDowell Fellowship, and a grant from the MacArthur Foundation.
