He was predeceased by: his daughter Sayre Holst. He is survived by: his parents, Ronald Edwin and Sarah Katherine "Kathy" Holst (Chesmore) of Rowley; his children, Cody Holst of Wells, Duane Holst of Grand Ledge, Michigan, Jacey Holst (Roger Bouck, Jr.) of Grand Ledge, Michigan and Audrianna Holst of Grand Ledge, Michigan; his grandchildren, Colter, Milanii, Roger Bouck III and Violet; his sisters, Dana Mayher (Raymie) of Quasqueton and Susan McCann (Dan) of Oelwein; and his close friend Kim. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the White Funeral Home (400 1st St W, Independence, IA 50644). A funeral service was held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa Task Force One of Cedar Rapids, to aid in training search and rescue dogs; and Retrieving Freedom of Waverly, Iowa, to help with the training and placement of service dogs for veterans with disabilities.
