With sadness, we share the passing of Phyllis Magdalene McElligott Schulte (Ryan, Iowa). Phyllis, born on August 23, 1927, passed away on August 29, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John E. McElligott and Jeanette McElligott; her grandfather Donovan Screws; and her pet Jake. She is survived by: her children, Mary Virginia (Tom Schwartz), James Charles (Sharon Schulte), Elizabeth Anne (Randy Benesch) and Regina Schulte (Silver Creek) of Ryan; her grandchildren, Erin Schwartz (Joe Lomen), Chris Schwartz, Michael Schwartz, Bridget Schwartz, Annie, John Mueller, Jessica, Kyle Anthony, Mary Ellen Schulte (Cody Miller), Aly Benesch, Katie, Chris Tritle, Meghan McGraw, Patrick Benesch and Mike Hansen; her great grandchildren, Thomas, Francis Hansen, Gabe, Aidian Schwartz, Eloise, Olivia Thiltgen, Izzie, Emily Mueller, Calvin Anthony, Lila, Edward Schulte, Irys, Hazel, Roe Benesch, Leighton, Hudson Tritle, Blake, Brooke McGraw, Claire and Grace McGraw; her great great grandchild Lakyn McGraw; her siblings, Mary Phillips, Virginia Riordan, John Vincent and Richard McElligott; her brothers-in-law, John Phillips and Lawrence Riordan; her grandson-in-law Logun Buckley; her caregiver Theresa; Regina and Chris Anderson. She is also survived by Mom and nurse Paige for her care in Mom.

A memorial service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the St. Patrick's Gym (510 Howard St, Ryan, IA 52330). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Patrick Catholic Church (615 Howard St, Ryan, IA 52330). A burial was held on Saturday, September 5th 2026 at the Calvary Cemetery- Ryan (3180 IA-13, Ryan, IA 52330).
