It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerhard Ausborn of Sac City, Iowa, who passed away on January 29, 2021, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Max Ausborn and Charlotte Ausborn (Huschke); his wife Marie Wiegand; his son Dale Ausborn; his son-in-law Doyle Irby; his siblings, Max, Clarence and Lorraine Best; and his great grandchild John Baumann.

He is survived by: his children, Donna Baumann (Rich) of Lake City, IA, LuAnn Irby of Auxvasse, MO, Darrell Ausborn (Martha) of Yankton, SD, Mary Lou Engel (Stephen) of Sac City, IA, Kris Ausborn (Janet) of Waukee, IA and Bob Ausborn of Sac City, IA; his daughter-in-law Sarah Ausborn of Clarksville, TN; his grandchildren, Anna Kulaski (Richard), Rebecca Brown (Ryan), Jessica Ausborn, Mark Baumann (Leah), Matt Baumann (Teresa), Shonna Smith (Chris), Anita Thompson, Dianna Jones (Jeff), Anthony Ausborn (Jennifer), Andrew Ausborn (Megan), Adam Ausborn (Morgan), David Engel (Micheala), Lisa Kies (Nick), Tom Ausborn (Jackie), Mark Ausborn (Valerie) and Julie Butler (Jared); his great grandchildren, Rockwell, Kohen, Quinten Kulaski, Indira, Elizabeth Brown, Anne, Will Baumann, Jay Baumann (Mariah), Kelly Smith, Torben Thompson, Haley, Lilly, Emelie Jones, Dorie, Micheal, Marcus Ausborn, Isabel, Ryan Ausborn, Clara, Eva Ausborn, Parker, Owen, Oliver Engel, Colson, Miranda Kies, Gwendolyn, Emilia Ausborn, Graham, Meredith Ausborn, Bennett, Jacob and Sophie Butler; and his great great grandchildren, Liza and Owen Baumann.

“23 June 2021 Dear Ausborns, I am so sorry to learn of your father's passing. He was such a good man, and I always enjoyed talking to him and your mom at the reunions. I think he was the last of the 309th/31st group to pass on, so the reunions are on the other side now! It was a privilege to have known him. Please accept a hug from me with my sincere condolences.
