He was predeceased by: his parents, Eldred W. Gronau and Marcella K. Gronau (Miller); and his brother-in-law Kevin Lafrentz. He is survived by: his wife Pam; his children, Shari Thies of Clive and Layne Gronau (Cindy) of Waukee; his grandchildren, Brittani Briggle (Patrick), Brady Thies, Brinkley Beeck (Dylan), Finley Gronau and Hayden Gronau; his stepgrandchildren, Oliva Hickcox (Matt), Elenora, Lillian and Sam Novak; his sister Janice Siebe; his nieces, KLynn, Kelli, Amy and Brooke; and his sister-in-law Janet Lafrentz. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.
In honor of LaWayne's life and service, memorials may be directed to his family and will be used to benefit the community he so faithfully served.
