With solemn reverence, we commemorate Dennis Ray Wailes of Scranton, Iowa, whose life came to an end on June 7, 2025 at the age of 77, leaving behind cherished memories. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, George Wailes and Margaret McDonald (Dargon); his stepfather Scott McDonald; his in-laws, Louis and Ruth Simpson; his siblings, Harold Dean Wailes, Shirley Imler (Dean) and Clara Johnson (Marvin); and his brothers-in-law, Donald Simpson and Richard Fox.
He is survived by: his wife Leannah Simpson; his children, Jason Wailes (Marlene) of Council Bluffs, Brett Wailes (Andrea) of Scranton, Heather Schoenherr (Dan) of Glidden, Jennifer Wailes (Kris Foster) of Pleasantville and Steve Kennel (Christine) of Youngstown, OH; his sisters, Beverly Lorenzen (Mike) of Dallas Center and Kathryn Hunter (Richard) of Scranton; and his in-laws, Dorothy Biondi (Dan) of Sheldahl, Linda Moore (Andy) of Moravia, Dale Simpson (Joan) of Poway, CA, George Simpson (Miriam) of Ventura and Janice West of Wesley. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; two great-granddaughters.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the Church of Christ (401 2nd St, Bayard, IA 50029). A prayer will be held on Saturday, June 14th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location. The inurnment will be held on Saturday, September 13th 2025 at the Willow Township Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Bayard American Legion.
