He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Richards and Shirley Richards (Anderson); and his siblings, Susan, Wilma and Denny.

He is survived by: his wife Eva Bunch; his sons, Greg Richards (Lori) and Zach Richards (Jessica); his grandchildren, Brooke Richards, Jasmine Ridgley, Cooper Richards, Austin Richards, Samantha Richards and Payton Richards; and his brothers, Steve and Dave Loftshult.
