He is survived by: his wife Margaret Hald; his stepchildren, Stephanie Ann, John Christian and Anne Maria; his children, Stephanie Swanson of Kimballton, IA, John Breining of Casey, IA and Anne Bieker (Craig) of Harlan, IA; his grandchildren, Justine Christensen of Portsmouth, IA, Samantha Christensen of Shelby, IA, Ben Christensen of Kimballton, IA, Danielle Bell (Rey) of Omaha, NE, Elsie and Emmery Bieker of Harlan, IA; his brother-in-law Jim Juelsgaard of Kimballton, IA; and his close friend Leanne Montgomery of Marne, IA. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
