With sadness, we share the passing of Joseph Patrick Emge of Shenandoah, Iowa. Joseph, born on February 19, 1936, passed away on September 14, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Guy Marcus and Mae Eldora Emge (Austin); and his siblings, John, Katherine, Jane and Dennis.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Jane Emge of Shenandoah; his children, Steve Emge (Jolinda) of Durant, Kevin Emge (Mary) of Grinnell, Lisa Emge of Omaha, Patrick Emge of Shenandoah and Lana Schroder (Doug) of Urbandale, Iowa; his sisters, Dianne Cook of Muskogee and Donna Vance of Fremont; and his grandchildren, Jessica Safe, Austin Emge, Tony Randazzo, Stephenie Randazzo, Holly Emge, Lauren Emge, Josh Herold, Nick Herold, JD Schroder, David Schroder and Luke Schroder. He is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Nishna Valley Funeral and Cremation Service (405 W Thomas Ave, Shenandoah, IA 51601). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (512 W Thomas Ave, Shenandoah, IA 51601). The military honors will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at the Rose Hill Cemetery (307 E Carter St, Shenandoah, IA 51601).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to either the American Heart Association or Alzheimers Association.
