He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Gradert and Lillian Gradert (Heuer, family: Hawarden); his siblings, Ernest Gradert, Betty Wagner (Charles), Kenneth Gradert (Marilyn), Richard Gradert (Carolyn) and Robert Gradert; and his sister-in-law Sandy Gradert.

He is survived by: his cousin Edwin; his wife Marjorie Berg; his children, Sharon Gradert, Ernest Gradert (Angela) of Sibley and Kevin Gradert (Laura) of Sibley; his grandchildren, Melissa Johnson (Matt) of Garretson, SD, Cassandra Walser (Clay) of Faribault, MN, Breanna Bosma (Craig) of Rock Rapids, IA, James Gradert (Chenoa) of Sibley, IA, Morgan Trampel (Kasey) of Sibley, IA, Mandy Sturdevant (Griffin) of Sioux Falls, SD and Carson Gradert (Gabby) of Sibley, IA; his brother Wilbur Gradert of Hawarden, IA; and his sister-in-law Caroline "Susie" Gradert of Sioux Center, IA.

In lieu of flowers, Gradert family prefers memorials, which will be directed to local non-profit organizations by family.
