It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Roger Poppen of Sibley, Iowa, who passed away on April 18, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Poppen and Marie Poppen (Harms); his brother Duane; his sister-in-law Joan Poppen; his nephew Jonathan Poppen; his stepgrandson Eric Findley; his in-laws, Tracy and Mary Estes; and his sister-in-law Ida Estes.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Poppen; his children, DyAnn Schmiedt (Tom) of Papillion, Nebraska, Dennis Poppen (Michelle) of Sibley, Iowa, Amy Kuennen (Ivan) and Lisa Findley (Larry) of Glidden, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kristin Smith (DJ), Shelby Schmiedt, Brittney Mahowald (Nick), Rachel Poppen, David Poppen, Ben Poppen, Isaac Kuennen, Abby Kuennen and Alise Kuennen; his stepgrandchildren, Callie Findley-Garrels and Keagan Findley (Caitlyn); his great grandchild Aero Smith; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Aubree Garrels, Araya Garrels, Forrest Findley and Everley Findley; his sister Judy Baerenwald (Arlen); and his brother-in-law Joe Estes. He is also survived by three nieces, four nephews, and many cousins.
Visitation was held on Sunday, April 20th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jurrens Funeral Home of Sibley (505 9th St, Sibley, IA 51249). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 21st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (601 6th Ave, Sibley, IA 51249).
