It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Daryl Jay Vander Kooi of Sioux Center, Iowa, who passed away at the age of 82, on November 6, 2022. He was predeceased by : his parents, David Kooi and Edith Vander Kooi (Woodwyk); his wife Maris Elaine Hager; and his daughters, Michelle McMurrey and Dalaine Pfeil.

He is survived by : his son Shane (Kristi); his grandchildren, Heather, Shauna, Jonah (Claire), Megan and Jessica; his great grandchild Daishoun; his granddaughters, Lindsey and Shannon; his stepmother Erna Vander Kooi; his siblings, Bob Vander Kooi, Deb Bosgraff (Jerry), Joan Scholten (Jay) and Sharon Smeyers; and his brother-in-law Terry Hager (Ruth).

In lieu of flowers or gifts the Vander Kooi family prefers memorials be directed to the Sioux Center Christian School Foundation, Western Christian High School, Unity Christian High School or Dordt University.
