He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Bruggen and Lena Van Bruggen (Kneubel) of Ireton, IA.; his wife Eunice Gesink; his daughter Donna Kleinwolterink; his siblings, Harold Van Bruggen and Jeanne; and his siblings-in-law, George Huizenga, Melvin, Carol Gesink, Owen, Jan Gesink, Richard, Frances Baker, Dennis Feenstra, John Vonk, Duane Van Wyhe and Audrey Gesink.
He is survived by: his children, Doug Van Bruggen (Hedy) of Sioux Center, Dyxie Van Bruggen of Bend, OR, Todd Van Bruggen (Jennifer) of Sioux Center and Tim Van Bruggen (Cheri) of Tea, SD; his son-in-law Dave Kleinwolterink of Sibley; his grandchildren, Brad Van Bruggen (Libby), Emily De Groot (Chad), Brian Van Bruggen (Jill), Elizabeth Roskam (Travis), Amos Kleinwolterink (Heather), April Blair (Brian), Ethan Kleinwolterink, Kendra Janssen (Tyler), Kelsey Bodensteiner (Matt), Amanda Versteeg (Jordan) and Sam Van Bruggen (Abby); his sister Arlis Feenstra; and his siblings-in-law, Eleanor Vonk, Helen Van Wyhe and David Gesink. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Faith Christian Reformed Church (801 9th St SE, Sioux Center, IA 51250). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 28th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
