With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Elaine Border Stone (Sioux City, Iowa), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 5, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mahlon Headid and Viona Headid (Anderson); her former husband Gerald Border; her parents-in-law, Russell and Georgetta Border; and her sister-in-law Jeanne Laizure.
She is survived by: her husband Dick Stone of Sioux City; her children, Nichole Drea (Brett) of Ankeny, Deonne Winkel (Derek) of Ankeny and Ryan Border (Angie) of Sioux City; her stepson Chad Stone (Penny) of California; her grandchildren, Brennan Drea (Melissa), Kaylee Haugen (Nicholas), MaKenna Drea (Amer Tokmic), Brayden Drea, Delainey Winkel, Jack Border, Dirk Winkel and Drake Winkel; Kolt Haugen.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Meyer Brothers Funeral Home (6200 Morningside Ave, Sioux City, IA 51106). A prayer will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Thomas Orthodox Church (1100 Jones St, Sioux City, IA 51105). A burial will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 11:45 AM at the Graceland Park Cemetery (2701 S Lakeport St, Sioux City, IA 51106).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Thomas Orthodox Church.
