She was predeceased by : her parents, Clarence A. Thomas and Emily E. Thomas Sr. (Allner); her former life partner George Madison; her husband Edwin Backhaus; her brothers, Jake Thomas and Buzz Thomas; and her son-in-law Jerry Craig.
She is survived by : her children, Clifford Madison (Georgia) of Hudson, FL, Cathy Collins (Sam) of Mims, FL and Connie Craig of Sioux City, IA; her granddaughters, Tiffany Carmin (Craig) and Jennifer Thomas; her great grandchild Cadey Carmin; her brother Douglas Thomas; and her sister-in-law Pat Thomas. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
