With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Janet M. Hinkel of Sioux City, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 7, 2025. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Fritz Wenzel and Edna Wenzel (Stoltenberg); her husband Ronald Ray Hinkel; her son William "Bill" Hinkel (Nikki) of Hinton; and her siblings, Don and Dolores.
She is survived by: her daughters, Ronda Mathewson (Chris) of Sioux City and Jill Hinkel of Sioux City; her grandchildren, Carol (Sean), Cole (Lisa), Katie, Ethan, Skyler (Sadie), Sarah (Tyler), Kayla, Ronda and Olivia; her great grandchildren, Leona, Eleanor, Hope, Nora, Daphne and Octavia; her brothers, Wally Wenzel, Bob Wenzel, Chuck Wenzel and Doug Wenzel (Joan); and her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Mumm, Janet Hinkel and Joyce Hinkel.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Morningside Lutheran Church (700 S Martha St, Sioux City, IA 51106). A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 12th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Morningside Lutheran Church.
