He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Hartz and Marie Hartz (Harrington); his wife Frances M. Chesley; his brother Ken Hartz; his nephew Dennis Hartz; his brother-in-law Charles Heath, Jr.; his daughter-in-law Laurie Hartz; and his stepbrother Melvin Brice.
He is survived by: his children, Ron Hartz (Deb) of Omaha, Ed Hartz (Mindy) of Hinton, Iowa, Cindy Spray (Jon) of Wylie and Kathy Bledsoe of Sioux City, Iowa; his sister Shirley Heath; and his stepbrother Vernon Brice (Linda). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
