He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Will and Rose Will; his former wife Sally Ann; his sister Joan McGaffey; his sister-in-law Therese Will; his nephew Randy McGaffey; his niece Karla Will; and his son-in-law Kurt Bremer.

He is survived by: his wife Dorothy Stephany; his siblings, Richard of Sioux City and Ruth Hultgren (Paul) of Sioux Falls, SD; his stepchildren, Lisa Stephany (Rod Thompson) of Ankeny, IA, Scott Stephany (Diane) of Huxley, IA, Linda Wilker (Max) of Urbandale, IA, Lori Bremer of Apple Valley, MN and Lea Ann DeLeon (Jack) of Des Moines; and his grandchildren, Katie Miller (Joel), Nathan Stephany, Rachel Stephany, Emma Wilker and Sophi Wilker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Croix Hospice or St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
