With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Shirley A. Dowd of Sioux City, Iowa, born in New Orleans, Louisiana, who passed away on June 23, 2023 at the age of 67. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Shirley Plummer and Lawrence Plummer, Sr.; her son Andre; and her siblings, Mondell, Melvin, Phillip Plummer, Abraham Parmelee and Brenda Bryant.

She is survived by: her children, Tamika Plummer of St. Louis, MO and Martin Plummer (Totianna) of Sioux Falls, SD; her siblings, Jenell Mosley of Sioux City, Lawrence Plummer (Antoinette), Linda Plummer of Sioux City, Cheryl Sully of Minneapolis, MN, Chuck of Sioux City, Nathan of Sioux City and Patricia Parmelee of Sioux City; her grandchildren, Anae Plummer, Mari Plummer, Khyren Plummer, Temptyst McKenny, Martin Plummer, Jr. and Teiallo Plummer; and her great grandchild Jamaal Ferguson, Jr.. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

“I met Shirley the summer of 1975. We became good friends. I was 16 turned 17 she was 17 turned 18 our birthdays were in the summer. We were teen Moms Shirley was pregnant, I had a newborn. Shirley loved her unborn baby. We shared the Summer of 1975. every day we hung out. Later on, I met her brother. Her baby Andre Pinie was born, oh she loved him. When he passed away, she died with him. I love her so. I will miss her. Too sick to attend Grief got me bad. She & Andre together again.”
