He was predeceased by: his parents, Sidney L. Hoover and Eleanor Hoover (Raker); his wife Lois C. Hollister; his sister Beverly Cummings; and his son-in-law Denny Smothers.
He is survived by: his daughters, Nancy LaBrune (Dennis), Janet Smothers and Carol Weatherwex (Stan); and his grandchildren, Sarah LaBrune-Jongeling (Matthew), Jim Weatherwex and David LaBrune. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
He was a District Governor for the Lions of Iowa, a Trustee on the Iowa Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, and President of the Editorial Board of the Iowa Lions magazine.
