He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Dowdy and Frances Dowdy; his brothers, Carl and Howard; and his sister-in-law Dixie Lester.
He is survived by: his siblings, Darrell Lester of Sioux Rapids, Ed Dowdy (Jan) of Sioux Rapids and Linda Hanson of Ocheyedan, Iowa; and his sisters-in-law, Carmen Dowdy of Cherokee and Mary Dowdy of Aurelia, Iowa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.
