He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Kaschmitter and Mildred Kaschmitter (Gerst); his siblings, Arlene Simmons, Fred, Dick, Carol Day and Larry; his great grandchild Bethany Schmidt; and his grandfather George.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Schilmoeller; his children, Judy Wallace (Lee), Jim (Rhonda), Chris (Laura), Joe and Mary; his grandchildren, Andrew Schmidt (Kate), Megan Schmidt, Brandon Kester (Ariane), Hannah, Abbey Kaschmitter, Casey Almasi (Connor), Lindsey, Ben Kaschmitter, Emma Rettig (Darren), Lily, Lauren Boka, Caden and Mayci Rasmus; and his siblings, Isabelle Laddusaw (Dick), Marilyn Bruzek, Evelyn Black, Bonnie DeBoe (Gene), Susie Strouse, Jolene, Brad Hansen, Fran Kaschmitter and Lynn Day.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Warner Funeral Home-Spencer (225 W 3rd St, Spencer, IA 51301). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Parish Church (1111 4th Ave, Spencer, IA 51301). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at the North Lawn Memorial Park (2208 Hwy Blvd, Spencer, IA 51301).
