He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Butler Thomas and Alda Thomas (Pilgrim); his son Steven Charles Thomas; his wife Helen Thomas; his granddaughter Annalissa Grace Schroeder; his brother Garth Thomas; and his son-in-law Ronald Ahrens.
He is survived by: his daughters, Patricia Ann Ahrens Loso (Brian) of East Dubuque, Kimberly Kay Schroeder of Chillicothe and Tamara Sue Kraus (Marv) of Elkader; his daughter-in-law Carol Thomas-Schlee; his grandchildren, Nicolette Welter (Brian), Melanie Tretsven (Tyler), Zachary Schroeder, Lindsey Murphy (Patrick), Hannah Schroeder, McKenzie Bottenberg (Braden), Wyatt Schroeder (Felisha), Ashley Entler (Josh), Andrew Kraus (Amber), Autumn Bergman (Jalen), McKenna Zitelman (Aaron), Landon Thomas and Morgan Thomas; his great grandchildren, Emma, Owen, Cora, Claire, Grant Welter, Lochlann, Lydia, Liam, Isabella Murphy, Lena Schroeder, Charlotte Bottenberg, Bennett Schroeder, Mason, Clayton Entler, Miles, Aspen Kraus, Ardith Bergman, McCoy, Jade, Selena, Taya and Deacon Zitelman; his sister Mary Jane Meyers; and his sisters-in-law, Una Swanson and Beverly Clauson (Walter). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Strawberry Point Methodist Church (202 W Mission St, Strawberry Point, IA 52076). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
