He was predeceased by: his parents, Doyle Monroe and Deloras Anna Kauffman (Meyer); his siblings, David Kauffman, Janice Kauffman, Karen Calkins, Verena Guthrie and Bonnie Wenger; his granddaughters, Melissa Bark and Tina Kauffman; and his brothers-in-law, Don Van Dee and Robert Barrett.
He is survived by: his wife Ronna Diane Sargent of Strawberry Point, Iowa; his children, Sheral Bark of Waukon, George Kauffman of Shepard, Tom Kauffman of El-Monte, Teresa Iovio (Kevin) of Pattersonville and Ashley Robare of Norfolk, Virginia; his stepchildren, Tim Sargent (Becky Holtz) of Central City, Rob Sargent (Sheryl) of Strawberry Point, Jeff Sargent of Frenchtown and Kelly Meyer (Steve) of Strawberry Point, Iowa; his siblings, Doyle Kauffman (Barbara) of Chariton, Steve Kauffman (Teresa) of Reinbeck, Richard Kauffman (Joyce) of West Union, Robert Kauffman (Deb) of Russell, Iowa, Elizabeth Van Dee of Buffalo, Anita Barrett of Marion and Marsha Lens (Richard) of Independence, Iowa; and his brothers-in-law, Mark Calkins of Des Moines, Amos Guthrie of West Union and William Wenger of Ryan, Iowa. He is also survived by 13 step grandchildren; 24 step great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews as well as great nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the St Mary's Catholic Church (314 W Mission St, Strawberry Point, IA 52076). A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (314 W Mission St, Strawberry Point, IA 52076).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
