With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Rita Mae Powell of Stuart, Iowa, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, Merle Morrison and Margaret Lavina Sanborn (Stevenson); her husband Don; her brother Virgil; her siblings-in-law, Lavonne Mowry, Dorothy Varley, Dean and Bill Powell; and her parents-in-law, Burton and Leola Powell (Hubbard).
She is survived by: her children, Lisa Marie Sheller (Daniel) of Urbandale and Kevin Powell (Janice Piatt) of Stuart, Iowa; her grandchildren, Nathanial Kevin Powell (Holly Peterson) of Earlham and Natalie Staroska (Chris) of Earlham, Iowa; her great grandchildren, Ryker Nathanial and Harper Elizabeth Powell; her brother Larry Glidewell (Doris) of Greenfield, Iowa; and her brother-in-law Charles Varley (Dave Powell) of Stuart. She is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Johnson Family Funeral Home - Stuart (123 NE 2nd St, Stuart, IA 50250). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 1st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Continue the Fellowship (123 NE 2nd St, Stuart, IA 50250).
Memorial contributions may be made to the Stuart-Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
