With sadness, we share the passing of Gary D. McClaren of Sutherland, Iowa. Gary, born on December 23, 1950, passed away on September 26, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Basil McClaren and Maxine McClaren (Billings); his siblings, Rick, James, Dick, Don McClaren and Linda Terrell; and his father-in-law James Cates.
He is survived by: his wife Linda McClaren of Sutherland, Iowa; his sons, Jeremy McClaren (Shelly) of Primghar, Jason McClaren of Ocheyedan and Josh McClaren (Liza) of Temple, Texas; his siblings, Neva Nolan of Greer, Robert McClaren (Pam) of Virginia Beach and Mike McClaren of Sutherland, Iowa; his mother-in-law Rose Cates of Okoboji, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Don Terrell of Denver and Mary McClaren of Fuquay-Varina. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 8th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Boothby Funeral Home (207 E Main St, Cherokee, IA 51012). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
