With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mary Ann Sweeney (Sutherland, Iowa), born in Cherokee, Iowa, who passed away on August 16, 2023 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by : her parents, Arthur Fessler and Katherine Fessler (Weimer); her brother Carl; and her stepson Dan Sweeney. She is survived by : her husband Joseph Sweeney of Sutherland, IA; her children, Brenda Miller (Dale) of Paullina, IA, Sharon Flinders (Mike) of Sutherland, IA, Stacey Petersen (John DiCello) of Minneapolis, MN and Bob Petersen (Molly Knudtson) of Peterson, IA; her grandchildren, Tara Brown (Kevin) of Spencer, IA, Leah Templer (Brian) of Sutherland, IA, Lydia and Asa Flinders of Sutherland, IA; her great grandchildren, Oscar, Philip Brown, Torrin, Teagan and Jentrie Templer; her stepsons, Steve Sweeney of Arnolds Park, IA, Doug Sweeney (Char) of Sutherland, IA and Chris (Melissa) of Colorado Springs, CO; her stepdaughter-in-law Karen Sweeney; her siblings, Harold Fessler of Hamilton, MT and Ruby Hoekstra of Sheldon, IA; and her sister-in-law Shirley Fessler of Calumet. She is also survived by 11 step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Mary's name.
