He is survived by: his wife Kim; his children, Jesse (Gabby), Calvin (Michelle) and Coilee; his parents, Jim and Sandy; his brother Brian; his granddaughters, Haisley and Nola; his mother-in-law Sharon Denzler; his sisters-in-law, Lori (Andy) and Johnnette (Bob); and his sibling's children, Megan (Phil), Ben (Taylor), Jacob Jeremiah (Lauren) and Adelaide.

A reception was held on Monday, September 15th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Swisher American Legion (68 3rd St SE, Swisher, IA 52338).

“Mr. Hynek is the most genuine teacher I've had to this day. I will forever remember his kindness and ability to bring fun and energy to my morning. So much so that my friends and I would ask him every day if we could go into his room for lunch to eat. He changed middle school for me and he left a mark on I and so many that I'm forever grateful for. Anyone who knew him is so very lucky.”
