We announce the death of Gary Alan Shook of Tama, Iowa, who passed away on October 25, 2026, at the age of 83. He was predeceased by: his parents, Kenneth K. Shook and Nellie Shook (Van Veen); his wife Marie Ann Kubalek; his brothers, Kenneth "Lonnie" L. Shook, Gene Shook and George Shook; his sisters-in-law, Joyce Shook and Janet Shook; and his nieces and nephews, Susan Harvey, Sarah Kubalek, Larry Shook and Ronnie Shook.
He is survived by: his daughters, Regina Bolen (Jeremy) of Montour and Tonya Gitautis (Ronnie) of Tama; his grandchildren, Kyle Gitautis (Danielle), Hailey Weiermann (Joshua), Brian Ribby (Joanna Ellis) and Natasha Ribby (Ryan Dirks); his great grandchildren, Brendon Ribby, Nevaeh Mathes, Jake, Kayla Dirks, Laurel and Maverick Weiermann; his brother Jeffrey Shook of Indiana; and his sisters-in-law, Caroline Shook of Grinnell and Shirley Shook of Newton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 28th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home (209 E 7th St, Tama, IA 52339). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
