He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles McCune and Elaine McCune (Bumsted); his grandson Ian McFate; and his brother Larry McCune. He is survived by: his wife Barb; his children, Christine McFate (Mark), Mark McCune (Teresa) and Deborah Rassler (Doug); his grandchildren, Mason, Michael McCune, Morgan and Mackenzie McFate; and his brother Quentin McCune (Chris).

Memorials may be directed to the South Tama High School Music Department.
