He was predeceased by: his parents, Ivan Kaefring and Mary Driscoll Kaefring; and his siblings, Joyce Amelon, Ray Kaefring (Joy), Gerry Kaefring and Ronald Kaefring.
He is survived by: his wife Arlene Kaefring of Tipton; his children, Ann Barclay (Marc) of St. Louis, MO, Mike Kaefring of Tipton and Patrick Kaefring (Kellie) of Champaign; his siblings, Kathy Stockman (Earlis), Margaret Long (Doug), Theresa Swenka (Hanford), Robert, Francis and Dean Kaefring (Deb); and his brother-in-law Duane Amelon. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and 55 nieces and nephews, his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family, friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fry Funeral Home (220 E 6th St, Tipton, IA 52772). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (208 Meridian St, Tipton, IA 52772). A burial will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery (1317 Lemon Ave, Tipton, IA 52772).
