He was predeceased by: his parents, Siemen Smidt and Frances Smidt (Tjaden); and his siblings, Wardden Smidt, Sandra Jones and Ellen Smidt.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Nedved of Titonka; his children, Michael Smidt (Sheila) of Titonka and Chris Angstman (Jim) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Hilary Beenken (Shane) of Titonka, William Smidt (Whitney) of Titonka and Will Angstman of Cedar Rapids; his great grandchildren, David and Colton Beenken; his grandchildren, Michael, Makenna and Millie Smidt; his sister Faye Ann Weydert (Bernie) of Algona; and his siblings-in-law, Marie Schoenwetter of Rochester, MN and Gene Nedved (Sheila) of Marion.
