She was predeceased by: her parents, Glendal Hommer and Lynn Hommer (Lettington); her brothers, Tim Hommer and Rod Hommer; her brothers-in-law, Jon Jackson and John Shackelford; and her niece Jessica Jackson.

She is survived by: her husband Ron Van Essen; her children, Bobbi Jo Angusich (Jason), Amanda Burg (Josh) and Dana Boner (Rick); her grandchildren, Austin Cowman, Shelby Cowman (Thomas), Taylor Burg, Jocelyn Burg, Kristin Beckwith (Wes) and Kayla Boner; her great grandchildren, Charlie, Waylon, Wyatt, Grant and Isaac; her sisters, Cathy Shackelford and Dienda Hommer; and her sister-in-law Cindy Hommer. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Comfort House Hospice in Pella.
