It is with sadness that the passing of Donald Eugene Lyons of Traer, Iowa is shared. Donald, born on August 21, 1939, passed away on September 14, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Lyons (Bud) and Bernadene Lyons (Gallaher); his wife Janice Kay Mehlhouse; his brother Richard; his sons, Mark Lyons and Ronald Charmichael; his daughter-in-law Reda Charmichael; his granddaughter Keely Lyons; and his great grandchild Gemma Rose Lyons.
He is survived by: his sons, Brian Lyons (Linda), David Lyons (Gayla) and Greg Lyons (Sherry); his daughter-in-law Janeal Penning (Stanley); his sister Mary Oakley (Pete); and his sister-in-law Karen Gessner (Gerald). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 8:30 AM to 10:15 AM at the Dysart United Methodist Church (602 Tilford St, Dysart, IA 52224). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be directed to Camp Courageous, Dysart Lions Club and/or Dysart United Methodist Church.
