She was predeceased by : her parents, Don Pavelka and Margaret Pavelka (Wacha); her parents-in-law, Pete and Ruth Gardner; her stepgrandson Samuel Gardner; her brother-in-law Ron Silhanek; and her nephew Brad Messler.

She is survived by : her husband Roger Gardner of Haverhill; her siblings, Diane (Harold Messler), Kathy Silhanek of Cedar Rapids and Greg Pavelka of Dysart; her stepchildren, Dr. Jeremy, Sadie Gardner of Grand Fork, Jackie, Meshack Koech of Waukee, Chris and Kris Gardner of Huxley; and her stepgrandchildren, Grant, Ellie Gardner, Ryland Mutai, Chelsea Koech, Malcolm Mutai, Kayley, Halle and Ashtyn Gardner.
