John Whelchel Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the death of John Whelchel of Urbandale, Iowa, born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, who passed away on March 2, 2023 at the age of 77. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his parents, Jack Whelchel and Helen Whelchel (Raymond); his sister Mary Ann Whelchel; and his brother-in-law Lloyd Cooper. He is survived by : his wife Pam; his daughter Marisa McClimon; his grandchildren, Cassidy and Abigail McClimon of Urbandale; his son Michael Whelchel; his grandchildren, Layne and Lauryn Whelchel of Cedar Rapids; his sisters, Judy Kern (Jim) of Fort Dodge, Linda Johnson (Butch) of Fort Dodge, Karen Lombard (Greg) of Fort Dodge and Kate McInroy (Greg) of Des Moines; and his sister-in-law Jean Cooper. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the Alzheimer's Association.
