He was predeceased by : his parents, Norman Torgerson and Alfreda Torgerson (Sattre); and his sister Susan Herbert. He is survived by : his wife Betty; his children, Erik Torgerson (Angela) and Christine Marchand (Denis); his granddaughters, Sophie, Ava Torgerson and Sydney Marchand; and his sister Malene Carlson.
Instead of flowers, memorials may be donated to the Jon N. Torgerson Scholarship Fund at Drake University.
