He is survived by: his children, Michael Canine (Teresa) and Holly Lantz (Brian); his sister Ann Pattison (Perry); and his grandchildren, Tyler Canine, Alyssa Lantz, Zack Lantz, Gabe Canine and Katelyn Canine.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Iles Westover Chapel (6337 Hickman Rd, Des Moines, IA 50322). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at 4050 Merle Hay Rd, Des Moines, IA 50310.
