It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of William Knapp of Van Meter, Iowa, born in Detroit, Michigan, who passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William Knapp and Anna Knapp; his siblings, Caroline, Paul Knapp, Mary Louise Cawthorn and Carolyn Doggett; and his son Roger Knapp.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sara Heeley (Heeley) and Anna Zuidema (Zuidema); his wife Susan Terry (Knapp); his daughter Ginny Haviland (Mark); his grandchildren, Kendy Haviland, Sable Knapp, Montana Knapp, Hudson Heeley, Hayes Heeley, Wendell Zuidema and Stella Zuidema; and his great grandchildren, Cole Granzow and Brooke DeBuhr (Drew).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Iles Dunn's Chapel (2121 Grand Ave, Des Moines, IA 50312). A funeral service was held on Thursday, November 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Plymouth Church (4126 Ingersoll Ave, Des Moines, IA 50312). The military honors was held on Friday, November 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Create the Iowa Veterans Cemetery.
