He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward J. Buren and Hazel M. Van Buren (Sims); and his siblings, Morris, Charlie, Frank, Duane, Lorraine, Alice, Doris, Grace and Jane.
He is survived by: his wife Judy of Victor; his daughter Dawn Tallman (David); his grandchildren, Jonathan Tallman (Emily), Michael Tallman (Alex Shiffer) and Rachel Coulter (Ben); his son Eric Van Buren (Heidi); his grandchildren, Terra Phelps (Brandon), Saxon Van Buren (Ashley), Bailey Van Buren and Nate Van Buren (Mallory Hester); his child Tracy Schafbuch (Darrell); his grandchildren, Morgan Dietrich (Tyler), Jacob Schafbuch (Tiffany), Brandon Schafbuch (Brittney) and Emma Schafbuch (Koley Kelly); and his brother James Van Buren (Darlene). He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 18th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Smith Funeral Home - Victor (808 4th St, Victor, IA 52347). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Victor Baptist Church (201 7th St, Victor, IA 52347). A reception will be held on Tuesday, May 19th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to East Iowa Bible Camp.
