Gene Westerlund Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Gene Westerlund of Villisca, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on May 10, 2025 at the age of 90. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Gene Westerlund to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Sven Ernest and Nellie Westerlund (Greenfield); his wife Joan Matthews; and his siblings, Glee Govig (Bud), Lucille Westerlund and Ken Westerlund (Jini).
He is survived by: his close friend Sandy Penton of Villisca, IA; his children, Terry Westerlund (Amy) of Red Oak, IA and Tammy Magneson (Jeff) of Stanton, IA; and his stepchildren, Kim Matthews-Teachy (Maurice) of Greensboro, NC, Linda Showers (Gregory) of Council Bluffs, IA and Lori Matthews of Kearney, MO. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Open Door Mission.
