Richard John Scheer Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard John Scheer of Vinton, Iowa, who passed away on December 2, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Scheer and Edith Scheer; his siblings, Deloras, Donald (Phyllis), Geneva Stewart (Leonard), Geraldine Hampton (Jerry), VaNita, Robert (Claire), Dorance (Dorothy) and Charles (Jo); and his pet Ben.
He is survived by: his wife Donna Mumford; his daughters, Martha (Mark Divitt), Susan ScheerDhein (Joel Dhein) and Jane (Rob Hursh); his granddaughter Olivia Dhein; and his niece Ann Hampton Grant.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 from 12:30 PM to 1:45 PM at the St. Mark’s United Methodist Church (4700 Johnson Ave NW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52405). The military honors will be held on Thursday, December 11th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
