He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Secrist and Beryl Secrist (Rowe); his wife Janice Toenjes; his siblings, Bonnyle Humphrey, Michael Secrist and Donna Secrist; and his brother-in-law Gary Toenjes.

He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Abraham (Christopher) of Cedar Rapids; his grandchildren, Jeffrey Fisher (Yelena), Cale Fisher and Taylor Abraham; his great grandchild Isabella Harger; his brothers, John Secrist (Elaine) and Steve Secrist (Denise); and his siblings-in-law, Roy Humphrey, Randy Toenjes (Deb) and Shirley Toenjes. He is also survived by 16 nieces and nephews.
