He was predeceased by: his parents, Winston Mortensen and Blanch Mortensen (Bouslaugh); his nephew Darin Streed; and his in-laws, Emmett, Catherine Fineran, Lois, Jim, John, Barb Milner (Jack) and Laura Fineran.

He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Fineran; his children, Mollie (Trent Auen) of Kiron, IA, Stanley II, Sara (Chris Rodman) of Wall Lake, IA, Sam of Wall Lake, IA and Andy (Jodi) of Boyer, IA; his grandchildren, Tyler, Austin Parmelee (Melina), Josh Mortensen, Ethan, Mia Mortensen, Emma, Izabelle, Sterling and Lilly Rodman; his sisters, Elizabeth Johnson (Terry), Shirley Williams (Chris) and Gloria Huisenga (Roger); and his in-laws, Sandi Grote, Keith Fineran (Deb), Kenny Fineran (Sandie), Bob Fineran (Leah) and Randy Fineran (Pippa). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins.
