She was predeceased by: her parents, Egebert Shellabarger and Magdalena Shellabarger (Blankenhorn); her spouse Glen Samuels; her siblings, Violet Davis, Viola Foster, Harold Shellabarger and Charles Shellabarger; and her son-in-law Gary Burge.
She is survived by: her children, Carlyne Burge (Gary) of North Liberty and Gary Samuels (Bonnie) of Burlington; and her grandchildren, Juli Thompson, Cara Brandenberg, Marc Burge, Victoria Fish, Dr. Tina Samuels and Jennifer Struve. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
